New Homes

Subject to planning permission being granted, the Welsh Government will develop a Disposal and Development Strategy for the site.

This will include appointing a homebuilder, or a consortium of homebuilders, to deliver the new homes at Slade Lane.

The successful bidder(s) will be responsible for delivering the project, in line with the expectations set out in the planning permission and the Welsh Government’s Disposal and Development Strategy.

It is anticipated that there will potentially be opportunities for smaller, local building companies to be involved, alongside dedicated plots for Self Build Wales and community-led housing, giving local people more choice in how new homes are created.

Affordable housing and opportunities for local people

Subject to viability assessments, a significant number of the homes will be affordable.

The level of affordable homes will reflect the policy contained within the Council’s LDP, and if possible, where viable and there is a local need, the Welsh Government will strive to provide more.

This will assist families and individuals in Haverfordwest and the surrounding area, who are not able to buy or rent homes on the private market, to access high-quality, sustainable housing.

Quality and design

The new homes will be designed to modern standards, ensuring quality, accessibility and energy efficiency. Electric vehicle charging points and secure cycle storage will be included, and the layout will prioritise safe, people-friendly streets.

Housing density will be carefully balanced to deliver enough homes, while creating an attractive living environment and protecting trees, hedgerows and open spaces.
