Environment & Sustainability
The Masterplan is being developed with a landscape-led approach.
Existing hedgerows and mature trees will be retained wherever possible, and the area of Ancient Woodland in the south-west corner of the site will be protected with a minimum 15-metre buffer.

The proposals include the planting of new trees and landscaping, together with the reinstatement of an historic hedgebank, a traditional landscape feature in Pembrokeshire, helping to strengthen the character of the area.

Biodiversity improvements
New habitats and wildlife corridors will run through the site, linking with existing green spaces and encouraging greater biodiversity. Specialist ecologists are advising on measures to ensure the development creates long-term gains for nature.

Sustainable drainage and water management
Surface water from the development will be managed through Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). These features mimic natural processes, using attenuation areas or ‘balancing ponds’, drainage channels and wetlands to slow the flow of rainwater, reduce flood risk and improve water quality.
They will also create new habitats and attractive landscape features, making effective drainage an integral part of the green infrastructure.
