Welcome
Proposals are being put forward to transform an area known as ‘Slade Lane’ into a new, sustainable neighbourhood on the northern edge of Haverfordwest. Land near Slade Lane has long been identified as a suitable location for new homes and community facilities and is allocated in Pembrokeshire County Council’s Local Development Plan (LDP).
Pobl – a not for profit housing and care provider – has already started building new homes to the south of the site in partnership with Lovell Homes and has submitted plans to Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) to develop a second phase.
Welsh Government has purchased additional parcels of adjacent land and is working together with fellow landholders PCC and Pobl. A team of experts has been brought together to ensure this important development for the area can be planned and delivered in a coordinated way.
This consultation website is an opportunity for the local community to see the proposals for the new neighbourhood, to understand what’s being proposed, inspect a draft ‘Masterplan’ and share it's views before the outline planning application is submitted.

Development overview
The draft plans for Slade Lane include around 600 new homes (in addition to the Pobl phases), with a mix of sizes and tenures to meet local needs.
At this stage it is anticipated that a significant number of homes will be classed as ‘affordable’, plus there are anticipated opportunities for self-build homes (under the Self Build Wales scheme), smaller development plots suitable for small and medium sized home builders and potential for community-led housing on the site.
A new primary school, which will include a nursery, is proposed on a 2.2-hectare site close to the edge of Haverfordwest. The plans also include a potential local centre which could provide a convenience store, café and community facilities, and also possibly provide space for healthcare services.
Green spaces will be a central part of the development. These will include play areas, play trails, hedgerow and tree planting, and new walking and cycling routes that link into Haverfordwest town centre.
